Activist Alert 2-9-2012

• The Oregon State Marine Board will hold a special board meeting on Waldo Lake motorboats at 2 pm Thursday, Feb. 9, at the OSMB office, 435 Commercial St. NE, Suite 400, in Salem. The public is invited to attend but the board will not be accepting public testimony at this meeting. If the board votes to initiate rulemaking, public comment will be accepted from March 1 through April 10 and a special public meeting will be held April 10 in Eugene.

• The Eugene Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee meets at 5:30 pm Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Atrium Building Sloat Room, 99 W. 10th Ave. On the agenda is the South Willamette Study, a bond measure to fix streets and safe routes to school. 

• The Eugene Police Commission meets at 5:30 pm Thursday, Feb. 9, at City Hall McNutt Room. Canine policy is on the agenda. 

• Occupy Eugene is planning “fun activities” starting at 1 pm Friday, Feb. 10, at Kesey Square, including painting, bridge, other card games, readings, music and more.

• “Occupying the Heart and Mind,” a silent meditation/prayer circle, continues at 11:45 am Friday and 2:15 pm Saturday, Feb. 10-11, at the Occupy Headquarters, 7th and Polk).  For more information, visit Occupying the Heart and Mind on Facebook.

• A special OPB program on the life of Wayne Morse will be previewed for the public at 5 pm Thursday, Feb. 16, at the Knight Law Center Room 110. An earlier showing for students will be at 12:30 pm that day. The program will be broadcast on OPB at 8 pm Tuesday, Feb. 21, as part of the “Oregon Experience” series of documentaries. 

• Medical Marijuana Week begins Monday, Feb. 13, with daily phone campaigns to the White House, Congress, governor’s office. • An Occupy Solidarity Social Forum and national conference is being planned for Feb. 18-19 in Olympia, Wash.
