• Rep. Peter DeFazio will host town hall meetings at 5:15 pm Thursday, Aug. 16, at Eugene City Council Chambers, 777 Pearl St., followed by 7 pm at Springfield City Council Chambers, 225 5th St. Later this month DeFazio will be in Cottage Grove, Drain, Albany and Corvallis. • Children’s resale shop Monkey Bugs is teaming up with The Arc Lane County for an Aug. 18 clothing swap and a children’s fair Aug. 19.  From 6 pm to 9 pm on Saturday women can bring their clean clothing items to The Arc Lane County, 4181 E St. Springfield, and swap them out for new pieces to fill their closets back up. The admission cost is $3 and will be donated to The Arc,

 • Jewels of the Vine, an evening of light appetizers, music, gifts and workshops with local artists, will benefit The LCC Women in Transition Business Scholarship. The event starts at 6:30 pm Thursday, Aug. 16 at Sweet Cheeks Winery, 27007 Briggs Hill Rd. Admission is $20.

• A canning-and-preservation-themed raffle will benefit Sprout!, the Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation’s year-round farmers market in Springfield, which will open in October. The raffle will be held from 3 to 7 pm Friday, Aug. 17, at the current home of the Springfield Farmers Market in the Library Fountain Plaza at 5th & A Streets in Springfield. 

• Want to learn grassroots skills and help Planned Parenthood reach out to voters? The group is looking for electoral interns 12 to 15 hours a week to help swing votes in the direction of women’s health. For more info and to apply go to http://wkly.ws/1ca
