Sizzle Pie, the award-winning gourmet pizza restaurant with two locations in Portland, is rumored to be opening a third restaurant in downtown Eugene. On their website, sizzlepie.com, they write, “We respect the classics, though we’ve added some unique twists. One of our signature pies features a base of locally made Aardvark habanero sauce blended with classic marinara.” Anybody hungry?
Speaking of expansions, Tom and Johnny’s, a Springfield restaurant featuring an impressive array of burgers, wings, hot dogs and fries, is expanding into the suite next door, more than doubling its seating capacity. Owner Tom Knight says the community has been working hard to revitalize downtown Springfield, and he’s hoping that adding a 21-and-up lounge side with local music, art, brews and wine tastings will help draw people back to the area. The new lounge will have a grand opening Friday, Aug. 24, at 471 South A St.; see http://tomandjohnnys.com
Savory success isn’t limited to Springfield. Off the Waffle will be adding a second location, 17 blocks south of its current digs, at 840 Willamette St. Set to open around the beginning of October, the new location is double the size of the 25th and Willamette site, which bursts at the seams on weekends. Café-bar The Barn Light will open at Broadway and Willamette in September and has already been sharing up a storm of beautiful Eugene images, including its remodel, on Facebook. Things are looking good around Kesey Square!
