Grab your bicycles and helmets and make sure you’re ready to chow down — the 16th annual Blackberry bRamble is here (no, that’s not a typo). Hosted by local bicycle collective GEARs, the bRamble offers bicyclists of all ages and skill levels the chance to enjoy scenic bikes rides of various lengths — 100, 62, 40, 20 or 10 miles — while also enjoying quality food and drink at rest areas along the way.
“We get lots of praise for our food by riders saying our food is better then most other century [100 mile] rides around the state,” says Mel Huey, one of GEARs’ directors. At the end of a day of cycling through the sun-kissed expanse of the southern Willamette Valley, riders get to enjoy blackberry pie, ice cream and a free beer (for those of age).
The Blackberry bRamble is Sunday, Aug. 3. All groups begin their ride at the Hilyard Community Center, 2580 Hilyard St. For more info, see eugenegears.org/bramble. $39 early reg. ends Thursday, July 31, late reg. is $49. — Samuel Wendel
