SUPPORT FOR NURSES

I’m one of the five Lane County commissioners. The county and the nurses who work at the county have been trying to negotiate a labor agreement for some time. According to media reports, these negotiations have centered around both wages and benefits, and it’s clear that reducing benefit levels to the nurses will affect their total compensation. I do not support reducing the total compensation levels of Lane County nurses

COAL TRAIN FREE

Thanks for your cover story (1/19) on the coal trains coming soon to dozens of Northwest communities. THE TIME HAS COME

The Bijou’s presentation of Revenge of the Electric Car is a welcome sequel to Who Killed the Electric Car? a decade ago. The opposition has become an advocate. ‘CARVIN’ PARVIN’

They’re carvin’ away at Parvin Butte

They want to haul it away to sea.

By the time they get done

with their disruptive fun,

Parvin Butt is all it will be.

McDougal & Demers see bucks in the Butte,

Laws of nature & man they don’t fear.

For all that they care we can all go to hell,

and if we can’t go they’ll bring it right here.

I moved out to Dexter for peace & some quiet,
