After surviving a long year of work, school and the non-rapture, start your summer off right by escaping this world and entering a new realm of whimsy, adventure and magic.û

Faerieworlds, the premier mythic music festival on the West Coast, is returning to Eugene June 17-19. This three-day event encourages community members of all ages, shapes and sizes to join the Realm and embrace their inner faerie. Donning appropriate faerie garb is advocated and encouraged, so come prepared with wings, face paint and faerie dust.û

Located at Mount Pisgah in the Howard Buford Recreation Area, festival-goers will have access to trails, camping areas, a main stage and the vending village. Faeries camping at the festival will have all-hours access to the vending village where they can find wares to enhance their faerie attire, along with art, crafts and food.û

One of the most anticipated vendors this year is the husband and wife team of mythic artists Brian and Wendy Froud. According to the Faerieworlds website, it was Brian Frouds work that originally inspired Faerieworlds ten years ago.û

In addition to these world-class artists, some top-notch musicians will be rockin the Realm. Headliner Kila, a traditionally Irish band that has created its own version of world music, will appear Saturday. Other bands such as Solas, Delhi 2 Dublin, Woodland and Brother will be performing throughout the weekend.û

If you are interested in leaving this world behind, check out faerieworlds.com for tickets, more information and a list of vendors. -‹ Chelsea Fryhoff
