• A panel discussion about the pending Pacific Connector Pipeline and Jordan Cove LNG Export Terminal will be from 6:30 to 8 pm Thursday, April 16, at the First United Methodist Church, 1376 Olive St. Panelists include Jody McCaffree, executive director of Citizens Against LNG, Stacey McLaughlin, a southern Oregon landowner facing eminent domain, and Ted Gleichman from the Sierra Club. • The theme of “Achieving Equity in Policing” continues at City Club of Eugene at noon Friday, April 17, at the Downtown Athletic Club, 999 Willamette. Panelists representing minority voices include Betsy Davis, Jack Radley and Salome Chimuku. $5 for non-members. See cityclubofeugene.org. 

Aloha Friday is a free event at Cozmic on the third Friday of every month and this month features Peter Apo, a UO graduate and musician involved in the Hawaiian sovereignty movement. He will perform as well as talk about the movement. The event runs from 6 to 7:30 pm Friday, April 18, at Cozmic, 199 W. 8th Ave. 

• Author and journalist Kristin Ohlson will speak at the event “Soil: Our Agent for Climate Recovery” at 7:30 pm Thursday, April 16, at First United Methodist Church, 1165 NW Monroe Ave. in Corvallis. Cosponsored by Benton Food Freedom, Corvallis350 and Citizen’s Climate Lobby. The event will also feature Theresa Griffith, an internationally known performer and recording artist.

• State Rep. Phil Barnhart will hold town halls with Sen. Lee Beyer at 11:30 am Saturday, April 18, at Coburg City Hall in Coburg; at 1 pm at the UO Law School 175, 1515 Agate St. in Eugene; and at 7 am Tuesday, April 21, at the Creswell Coffee Co. at 116 Melton Road in Creswell.  

• The fourth annual Laughter for the Trees! event in support of Forest Web will be from 7 to 10 pm Sunday, April 26, at The Axe & Fiddle, 657 East Main St. in Cottage Grove.
