Amazon Creek: Learning about its history and envisioning the future

March 20 Public Meeting – Amazon Creek water quality: the latest accomplishments and exciting new work!
The Long Tom Watershed Council (LTWC) is hosting a free public meeting to discuss the collaborative efforts to improve water quality and habitat in Amazon Creek. For past eight years, LTWC’s Urban Waters and Wildlife Program has been collecting data on pesticides in Amazon Creek and working with urban business owners to help them voluntarily improve stormwater on site through the implementation of best practices and low-impact landscaping features like rain gardens and bioswales. Both LTWC and our partners at the City of Eugene have some exciting upcoming work on the horizon to share as we work to positively impact water quality both in the Eugene metro and downstream! Attendees will also learn how the City of Eugene manages the creek for multiple goals. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Light refreshments provided. Tuesday, March 20, 6 – 8 p.m., Northwest Community Credit Union, 545 E. 8th Ave., Eugene. More info at www.longtom.org / 541-338-7055.
