Anne Azéma and Shira Kammen, “The Penitent Pilgrim: Roads to Salvation, 1200–1400”

The charismatic medievalist French soprano Anne Azéma will be returning with Shira Kammen, genius on early stringed instruments, performing a concert of medieval music as the opening concert in the Musicking events at the UO SOMD.

Beall Concert Hall, UO; free and open to the public.

The concert will contain extraliturgical music on pilgrimage, including monodic songs, dramatic monologues, and scenes from the life of Saint Gilles excerpted from Guillaume de Berneville’s *La vie de Saint Gilles*, c. 1150. Songs are in Latin, Galician Portuguese, Catalan, Old French, and Middle English.
