Baths, No Joy, Sasami Ashworth

March 28 • 8:00 pm

$15 – $18

On Wednesday, March 28, the Community Center for the Performing Arts proudly welcomes back to the WOW Hall electronic artist Baths, along with special guests No Joy and Sasami Ashworth.

Will Wiesenfeld, better known by his monikers Baths and Geotic, is a Southern California native who has been crafting musical masterpieces since his early teens. While Wiesenfeld has explored some dark and very real topics —including suicide ideation, difficult relationships and existential crisis — his sound is anything but dismal. Baths combines Lo-Fi electro with ambient beats to create a unique, dynamic sound, often incorporating looping and synthesizers. Baths’ latest LP, Romaplasm, delivers an emotional collection of personal stories told in an indirect way using modes of fantasy that are influenced by Wiesenfeld’s interests in anime, video games and comics. Wiesenfeld explores self-deprecating moments in his life on tracks like “Human Bog” in which he describes himself as, “queer in a way that’s failing me, I’m not enough of anything,” but not all of his work is based in negative experience. In Romaplasm, Baths invites his listeners into the deepest parts of himself while still maintaining sounds of lucid bliss to deliver his message. The exploration of his faults and past mistakes through a lens of fantasy ultimately leaves the listener in a space of solace and self-healing.

No Joy is a creative collaboration of two friends, lead singer and songwriter Jasamine White-Gluz and Laura Lloyd. Their newest endeavor comes from a collaboration with musician and producer Sonic Boom, producing a combined self-titled EP that will be released on March 30.

Sasami Ashworth developed her sound at the Eastman School of Music and with the band Cherry Glazerr. She will be playing her first solo live performance at the WOW Hall.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 day of show, and are available at U. of O. Ticket Office, WOW Hall and www.ticketweb.com.  Doors open at 8:00 pm and showtime is 9:00.
