Emerald Art Center presents a celebration of the natural world.
Hillsboro artist and art instructor, Ed Labadie, presents a collection of watercolors, acrylics and oils in his exhibition ‘Celebrating the Grandeur of Nature,’ on display at the Emerald Art Center March 6 – 30. The public is invited to the opening reception and a free artist demo at the Friday Art Walk, March 9, 5-8 pm.
Labadie states, “My lifetime fascination for the grandeur and gifts of our natural world, coupled with my devotion to preservation of these irreplaceable wonders, is depicted in a variety of works, from my archives to recent creations, from New Zealand to wilderness fantasies.
“My paintings reflect my compelling urge to explore, discover, contemplate and design. Some works offer recognizable settings, while others present semi-abstract compositions, but they all share the mystery and majesty of our natural world.
“Works evolve from the moment I pour paint onto the surface to the final brush stroke. My greatest reward is when I inspire viewers to engage their imaginations and explore passions, and in this exhibition, consider their commitment to conservation.”
Labadie studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and enjoyed a twin career as a graphic designer. He will be teaching a three-day workshop and sharing a wealth of painting lessons in ‘Mastering Land and Sea’ at the Emerald Art Center, March 23-25; enroll at www.emeraldartcenter.org.
A visit to Labadie’s website at www.EdLabadie.com reveals a wide range of works, workshops, and instruction videos.
The Emerald Arts Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 am to 4 pm, at 500 Main Street, Springfield, Oregon.
