New Prenatal Belly Dance classes in Eugene this Spring!
Sundays 1:00-2:00pm at Celebration Belly Dance & Yoga (B SIDE)
8 weeks, from March 25th – May 13th (last class is on Mother’s Day!)
$12 drop in or $80 for 8 class pass.
The slow movements and low impact nature of this dance form make belly dance the perfect exercise for pregnancy! Women of different cultures throughout the ages have moved, swayed, and danced through their pregnancy and labor. I have been belly dancing throughout my pregnancy and have personally experienced the many benefits of this practice.
Some of the benefits include:
-Preparation for childbirth by strengthening the pelvic and deep abdominal muscles.
-Learn to move “with” instead of “against” contractions during labor.
-Relieves pregnancy back pain.
-Great for relaxation and stress relief.
-Improves blood circulation.
-Aids digestion and can relieve constipation (you’re pregnant, you know what I’m talking about!)
-Movements promote optimal position of the baby in the uterus/pelvis during pregnancy, labor, and birth.
-Conditions the mind to focus on moment to moment awareness, which is a great tool for labor.
-Tones your pelvic floor which greatly reduces chances of uterine prolapse later in life.
-Improves your confidence and love of your changing body!
In addition to learning belly dance movements the classes will include some yoga and mama-baby meditation.
Belly dancing for pregnancy isn’t recommended if you have pregnancy complications such as Gestational Diabetes, Pre-eclampsia, Placenta Previa or a history of premature labor.
