Big Mountain Bike Event Sunday

The ninth annual All Comer’s Meet hosted by the Disciples of Dirt mountain bike club will begin at 9:45 am Sunday, Jan. 20, at Whypass near Lorane. This is the DOD’s largest annual event and has steadily grown each year.

“Attendance last year, verified by signed wavers, was 149 people but estimates were closer to 165, even with snow on the ground that day,” says Shawn Litson, spokesperson for DOD. This is a free event and open to all.

Litson says riders will meet at the gravel pile on Carpenter Bypass Road and break into groups based on skill level and desired pace. There will be women’s only groups, slower more sightseer groups, all the way up to fast pace “ripper” groups. These groups will have a leader and sweep knowledgeable to the trails to make sure everyone gets back safely.

Once back at “The Pile,” he says, a bonfire will greet those who have been playing out on the single track trails. Chili and snacks will be provided, along with beverage provided by sponsor Ninkasi. “Numerous local vendors have donated some really nice prizes for a post ride raffle,” says Litson. SRAM is raffling a Rockshox fork from their demo van with a retail value up to $,1200.
