Two local grassroots organizations, Indivisible Eugene and Take Action Eugene, are teaming up with Moms Demanding Gun Sense in America to hold a “rally to show our outrage” for a lack of action in the U.S. Congress to address gun violence, according to a press release from Indivisible Eugene.
The rally is noon to 1 pm, Tuesday, Feb 20, at the Federal Courthouse, 405 E. 8th Avenue in Eugene.
The Stop Gun Violence Rally s in response to the Feb. 14 school shooting in Parkland, Florida that killed 17 students and faculty at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
Organizers say “The time is NOW to have the discussion on gun violence and gun control.” They anticipate up to 50 people at the Tuesday Resistance Rally, they say.
Diane Peterson of Moms Demand Gun Sense will speak, and the rally will “take the street to spread our messages of love and peace in America.”
And after the rally, representatives will visit the offices of Sen. Ron Wyden and Sen. Jeff Merkley with questions about current issues.
