• The PROM benefiting KindTree — Autism Rock’s Friends and Family Camp is 7 pm Saturday, May 21, at the Vet’s Club Ballroom. • The Eugene screening of Disobedience: the Courage to Break Free, “an inspiring new 40 minute film about the global movement to break free from fossil fuels,” will take place 7 pm Thursday, May 12, at the Eugene Hotel. The event will benefit community radio station KEPW. The evening will also present musician Chico Schwall, the Raging Grannies chorus and speakers from 350Eugene and Our Children’s Trust. • Four Ladies in Tennis Shoes: The Story of How Four Determined Women Convinced the Forest Service and Saved Limpy Rock, a free presentation by Jeanne Moore is at the Douglas County Museum 2 pm Saturday, May 7. • A benefit concert with Rob Tobias, followed by a discussion about community radio in the Eugene/Springfield community will take place at Reality Kitchen, 645 River Road (next to Countryside Pizza). Sponsored by Eugene Peaceworks and Reality Kitchen, the concert is a fundraiser for KEPW-FM. The event opens its doors at 6:30 pm Friday, April 29. KEPW says “KEPW 97.3 will be Eugene’s first grassroots, community-powered radio station, providing programming that is local to the core.” Continue reading

• The NAACP of Lane County’s “Community Conversations: Building Unity in our Community” series of public meetings on race, privilege and equity continues from 5:30 to 8 pm Thursday, April 14, at the EWEB Community Room, North Building, 500 E. 4th Ave. The meeting begins with a light dinner at 5:30.
