The drive toward West 11th EmX heats up

In an age when money is speech and corporations are people, following the money doesn’t always produce a clear, well-documented trail of dollars. The opposition to Eugene’s planned West 11th EmX extension is no exception. Now the issue is heating up in anticipation of a Sept. 26 City Council work session. Continue reading
DOJ drops Handy investigation
The Oregon Department of Justice sent a letter to the Lane County Counsel today informing the county of the decision not to pursue the investigation against Handy due to insufficient evidence he had violated any criminal laws. The county apparently sent out its press release about the issue before contacting Handy's attorney. Handy said in response to the news and the press release: Continue reading
Dog Shaming

I have dogs. They do bad things, like sniff crotches and open the fridge and eat all the butter (Zella). And now, next time they do something bad, like eat all the seatbelts in my car (Rhoda) there's a place to shame them publicly for their wrongs. Dog-shaming.com Pages and pages of dogs doing bad things. Cutely. It's like cat videos only for dog people. And with less movement. Well, you know what I mean. Continue reading

At the moment, this equally peaceful and industrious setting is the scene of many ongoing changes, and they all have to do with stoves. Continue reading

I mean who doesn't want to see a muscle-bound Terry Crews playing instruments with his muscles and randomly (I think) yelling out words like "Sausages"? Continue reading
Press Release of the Day: Floating Lady

And the press release of the day award goes to the lovely, earnest folk who sent an email to a cc list of about 80 news sources across the state about a woman who is going to run 100k in order to call attention to the slaughter of dolphins. Continue reading

OMG HEADLINE NEWS: NEW DUCK UNIFORMS

Sometimes around the EW office we like to play "predict tomorrow's R-G front page," and sports news is often a sure bet. The not-so- Daily Emerald (online all the time, print, not so much) is already tweeting and posting that Ducks Football has NEW UNIFORMS (or basically an update of the Rosebowl outfits according to Nikeinc.com) and we figure the R-G will be close behind with full frontal Duck coverage. Continue reading
