Seeing red: Forget red roses, slow dancing and wistful glances, and instead break out the fake blood, limping gate and unblinking dead-eyed stare. Ninkasi hosts the free, 21-plus “Dawn of the Red Zombie Pub Crawl” to bring back its India Red Ale, kicking off at 6:30 pm Friday, Feb. 13, at Kesey Square. Ninkasi’s Ali Aasum says the crawl will continue to the “Barmuda Triangle” downtown and “costumes are encouraged.”

The UO Department of Art lecture series presents Iranian artist and UO alum Taraneh Hemami on “Theory of Survival,” an ongoing project that engages artists and audiences with the banned and censored materials — newspapers, essays and other printed ephemera — of Iranian students examining historical events from the CIA’s 1953 Iranian coup d’état to the 1979 Iranian Revolution. The free talk starts at 6 pm Thursday, Feb. 19, in Lawrence Hall, room 115.

If you were planning to see the Crow’s Shadow Institute of Art show at Jacobs Gallery, put your plans on hold. The Jacobs Gallery had to temporarily close due to a leak. Look for reopening updates on the Jacobs Gallery Facebook page.
If you haven’t already, go check out the Love Bites II: The Re-Entry art show hosted by Sizzle Pie, The Barn Light and Behavior Castle in the Broadway Commerce Center atrium (924 Willamette St.). The collection of local and national art is a gleefully graphic (in all senses of the word) orgy reminiscent of the Garbage Pail Kids, lowbrow master Robert Williams, Kustom Kulture and your favorite band posters. Some standouts are “You Bring the Heat, I’ll Bring the Meat” by Ohio artist Burrito Breath, “My Heart Burns Just for You” by Eugene illustrator Sabrina Elliott and a valentine to the Trailer Park Boys’ cat-loving character Bubbles, “Show Me Your Kitties,” by Portland’s Matt Stikker. Catch the show’s free Valentine’s Day dance party 6 to 11 pm Saturday, Feb. 14, at The Barn Light.
