The sun was shining and the leaves were falling as Eugene Weekly and its cadre of fantastic local artists presented ArtsHound on Broadway on Lane Art Council’s First Friday ArtWalk Oct. 2, a project we have been working on since May. Each artist — Santiago Uceda, Marlis Badalich, Neal Williams and Sara Talmadge — designed original art for an EW distribution box, which will be on Broadway downtown (outside Tokyo Tonkatsu, Noisette Pastry Kitchen, The Wayward Lamb and Bijou Metro) through October. Be sure to visit the boxes and take a walk around them — all sides have a story to tell. The project stems from our desire to help make this an artful, quirky city that supports local art and makes it accessible to all. Be sure to check out the corresponding show of the artists’ non-box art at Noisette Pastry Kitchen, running through November. Thank you, artists, for accepting our challenge, and thank you, Eugene, for coming out and supporting the art scene. We can’t wait to get to work on our next public art project.
