With daggers at the ready and poetry popping from their lips, it is time again for Shakespeare in the Park’s annual show. This year they take on the bloody, ever-relevant The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. Love, Loss and a Little Bit More

Storm Kennedy and her crew are back with another production of Love, Loss and What I Wore (see “Closet Confession,” EW 2/28). This quirky, insightful play is written by the magical sisters Delia and Nora Ephron and based off the book by Ilene Beckerman. AVID deserves public support and funding

As a high school freshman Katelyn VanBerkel would carefully pick her way through the broken glass and muddied potholes of the trailer park in Glenwood, warily skirting a drunk prostitute, avoiding the local junkies until she could make it onto the warm and dry bus that would take her to the one place she felt safe, school. Against all the statistical odds, Katelyn has worked through poverty, abandonment and homelessness to graduate with a 3.4 GPA. She will attend the UO on full scholarship. Continue reading

The new Found Space Theatre puts spotlight on women

“You show up to an audition in Eugene,” actress Emily Hart says, “and the play will have one or two women’s roles. Maybe they’re good, maybe they’re not, but there will be 30 women competing for them.” The toll this competition takes artistically is a serious one. With a careful calculation of comet speed, fish sleep and personal hunches, biologist Jules has pinpointed the cataclysmic end of the world at about 7 minutes away, setting us up for a comedy that takes us for a philosophical swim through evolution and imagination.
