The Eugene City Council decided to wait until after its summer break to weigh on on coal trains, but the Coos Bay World does't think Eugene should have an opinion at all on the issue. In an editoral published July 18, the World says Eugene should keep its "big nose" out of coal exports and "butt out" of the global energy and climate change issue. Continue reading
Another exclusion request: In the afternoon of July 18, a downtown officer saw an adult man mingling with a number of teenagers in the Park Blocks. The man was contacted when he violated one of the posted park rules. The officer ran a record check on the 26-year-old man and found there was a warrant for his arrest. It was also determined that he was in the park in violation of an administrative park restriction. He is currently on probation for Possession of Heroin and Marijuana Delivery within 1000 Feet of a School. Continue reading

This report focuses on Title III of Secure Rural Schools, which "authorizes the use of a portion of the payments for certain purposes related to wildland fire and emergency services on federal lands."
