Just Livid

I’m livid at your reporting on enterprise tax zones. The author either doesn’t understand basic tax code or is intentionally trying to smear the business community.

Tax breaks don’t come at the expense of taxpayers. They allow businesses to retain some capital so that they can cover the largest expense for any business: employee wages.

Conflating tax breaks and subsidies is irresponsible. It’s damaging to our community discourse and our understanding of the business community here. If one of my writers had submitted this piece when I edited a paper, I would’ve sent it back for a complete rewrite.
