A note to the Eugene 4J School Board: Your plan to prohibit concealed carry of firearms by licensed individuals on your school grounds would gain more acceptance if you would justify your rationale with statistics.

There are nearly 300,000 people with concealed carry permits in Oregon. I challenge you to provide the number of  Oregon concealed carry permit holders who have shot up a school, a church or a public gathering. How many have been convicted of murder by gunfire?

If they were the problem we’d know about it. Knee jerk reactions such as this aren’t going to stop the next Sandy Hook or Uvalde.
