Climate change is a big problem, and we need to do something about it. I have written to several lawmakers in Eugene and all of Oregon saying this: I think we need to get our energy only from renewable resources, not fossil fuels. We need to switch to hydro power and solar and wind. We need to do this fast, as soon as 2025 or before. To those of you who read this: If you support this goal and want it to be made into law, here’s what you can do to help — write letters/emails to our lawmakers, encouraging them to make my plan law. The last two years have been some of the hardest in Eugene Weekly’s 43 years. There were moments when keeping the paper alive felt uncertain. And yet, here we are — still publishing, still investigating, still showing up every week.

Listening to readers has always been at the heart of Eugene Weekly. This year, that meant launching our popular weekly Activist Alert column, after many of you told us there was no single, reliable place to find information about rallies, meetings and ways to get involved. You asked. We responded.
