The streets of Eugene are filled with treasures: free boxes overflowing, Dumpsters unlocked and waiting to be searched, all of it yours for the taking. All you need is a good eye, a little bit of imagination and maybe some rubber gloves. The easy joke about Len Wiseman’s Total Recall is that it gives you so little to remember. You might recall the Blade Runner-esque neon-and-concrete vision of its future, or the look on Kate Beckinsale’s face as she tries to squeeze the life out of Colin Farrell’s Douglas Quaid. But Wiseman, who cut his teeth as a director on two Underworld flicks, has plenty of experience directing Beckinsale at ass-kicking. Two hours of her and Jessica Biel fighting in an inexplicably complex bank of elevators would be considerably more memorable. Continue reading

If artist Martha Bowen could be described with only one word, that word might be “humble.” Along with her modest and genuine character, Bowen’s captivatingly beautiful watercolor paintings are true to her unassuming nature. She’s traveled the world and brought images home for us to enjoy. Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, Bowen now calls Eugene home, though her Latin roots seep through the canvas with vibrant colors and life. Continue reading
