• Transportation safety in Springfield is the focus of a meeting with Mayor Christine Lundberg at 11:30 am Thursday, Oct. 29, at the roundabout at Harlow Road and Hayden Bridge Way. Roundabouts and other issues will be discussed, such as the Safe Routes to School program and SmartTrips Springfield.
• The Eugene Budget Committee’s Citizen Sub-Committee will meet at 5:30 pm Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Eugene Public Library Bascom/Tykeson Room.
• The future of the Elliott State Forest will be the topic for discussion at City Club of Eugene at noon Friday, Oct. 30, at the Downtown Athletic Club, 999 Willamette Street. Speakers are Josh Laughlin of Cascadia Wildlands and Pete Shepherd of the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians. $5 for non-members. The following week, Nov. 6, the program will be on “Growing our Local Food Economy.”
• The Springfield-Eugene Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) will be showing the film Vocabulary of Change: Angela Davis and Tim Wise in Conversation from 7 to 9 pm Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Hilyard Community Center, 2580 Hilyard Street.
