For the beer and wine enthusiasts here in Eugene and Springfield, there’s a few exciting beer and wine events coming up.
On April 2, The Bier Stein (TheBierStein.com) is hosting a watch party for the Oregon Beer Awards. Here, you can find out which local breweries are taking home the gold without having to travel all the way to Portland. The Oregon Beer Awards started in 2015 as a way to recognize Oregon’s best craft brewers. With 38 unique categories, it’s possible that your favorite craft brew might just win an award.
From April 16 to 19, PLAY Eugene (PLAYEugene.com) is hosting its annual Fruit Fest. Fruit Fest is exactly what it sounds like: all things fruit. PLAY will have fruit beers, ciders, cocktails and more. It’ll also have running specials from the food trucks outside.
But how about some wine? On April 11 from 1 pm to 5 pm, you can head over to Pfeiffer Villa in Junction City to enjoy the scenic views and taste some locally produced reds and whites.
On the same day, you can head over to Capitello Wines Tasting Room, which is bringing back “The Nose Knows” (Capitello.wine) wine tasting experience. For just $15, you can taste some wine, but more importantly, smell 80 unique aromas commonly associated with the winemaking process. That is a great way to refine your palate.
Moving along, May is Oregon Wine Month, so head over to OregonWine.org to find events and tastings across the Willamette Valley and Oregon.
Finishing up, there’s Eugene Beer Week (EugeneBeerWeek.org), which runs from May 29 to June 7. Eugene Beer Week has been a Eugene tradition since 2011 and every year features a wide variety of local and national brewers. There are so many breweries that attendees can fill out a beer bingo card to keep track of all the brews they’ve tasted.
